The Trip Through the Digestive System
"Hello, I am a marshmallow. I am about to tell you about my trip to the
digestive system. First, the human chews me up (ouch!) in to little pieces so he can swallow me. Then I pass through
a long tube called the esophagus. It leads me to the stomach, which contains acid and chemicals that break down my proteins.
Then the partly digested food moves into the small intestine. Nutrients diffuse through the villi into the blood stream.
Last from the small intestine. My undigested food passes into the large intestine. There, my water and minerals
diffuse into the blood, and my wastes are removed from the body. That is our trip to the digestive system. Meet
me next time on the trip to the Excretory System!
